Ready for the Oscars

The great thing about SL is that you can dress up in any manner you want. You can be grunge, or goth, or elegant. Not only can we admire the lovely gowns we see all the ladies in beauty contest wear but we can go to the store and get the same look not a knock off. I really was blown away with the lovely gowns in the MVW contest this year and in particular a few from Tres Beau.

So off to Tres Beau I went and bought myself this really stunning golden gown. The “Miss Vivienne” is simply amazing. I love love the color and how it drapes. The texturing in this is so well thought out and every single detail is perfection – as you would always expect from any designs you see at Tres Beau. Of course I had to add some really awesome pieces from Finesmith too. I am all set for my walk down the red carpet on Oscar night.

One Event – Three Looks

I was honored recently to have the opportunity to cast for Kabuki Boutique. It was a really challenging event and we had to present ourselves in all white. The theme was a futuristic world where everything was white without any shades or colors. Absolutely purity of white.

When you go shopping for white items you don’t know how hard it is to actually find things that are really white. So many items say white but when you get them unpacked and start wearing them, they are actually various shades of white or grey. There are as many shades of white as there are black so finding something utterly pure could be a real challenge. Once you bought something you found you could not tint it. However with careful hunting I found several things that worked and pieces I was able to wear and to tint. Not only did you have to change the color but the actual texture itself so that the underlying texture did not affect the purity of white.

When you go to a casting there are a couple of things that are critical to remember. A number of people did not read the notecard carefully and showed up in various shades of grey and some with colors on. Also when you have a casting and there is a landmark for you always go and practice and practice before hand. If you don’t know the tricks in the runway you can find yourself in an embarrassing situation where you fall off and can’t get back on. It pays to practice until you can do it in your sleep.

I can’t help myself but always over do and in this cast I created three different looks – not sure as to which one to wear. here are all three looks.

A Little Fun With Black and White

I had bought this wonderful Gizza black and white dot maxi skirt but had not worn it yet.  I had paired one the other colorful Gizza maxi’s with a lovely blouse from COCO and I wanted to see what I could cook up with this.  I immediately thought of a dress that I had bought at Leezu way way way back when I was just a little itty bitty newbie and I was off to the races.

I knew exactly what top I wanted to wear with this skirt.  I have worn and worn this Leezu Noir Mina Flexi dress and the Miriam Flexi Dress.  They are pieces I have never boxed up and stored away.  Three years in someones SL closet is a long time but they are oldies but goodies.  I loved the difference in the size of the dots and the little fur wrap was just great to give it a bit of a fall look. It just goes to show you how long Leezu Baxter has been making quality clothing.

I had recently gotten this Stradivarius hair from Vanity Hair.  The twist and turns of the hair are so elegant but edgy and artistic too.  The hair was really nice with the Lavin gown from Agnes Finney I had had on earlier and I thought it worked here too.  I had seen the Nardcotix hats around on some different blogs so I had to check them out,  You know I love hats!!! This is the Innocence Ribbonata Hat called Kissed.  I was a bit squirmy about ti cause it is sort of snake like in it’s appearance but I thought at least in SL was not going to scare me .    The only other thing I needed to add was some earrings and I have on more oldies here, Lagyo Noir Sacre Coeur – great black and white earrings.

Gizza goes wildly into the fall

I love love this fuzzy zebra jacket from Gizza.  This is such a great edgy boho look.  The jacket so reminds me of something you would have seen in the movie Five Easy Pieces .  I love the touch with the bird – I look like a bird whisperer.  I have on the complete Fusion Chic set in zebra for this including the adorable boots.  They are going to be  great to wear in the fall with skirts as well as slim pants.

I have added the layered tanktop from Coco in Khaki.  I also added old gloves from a Rfrye outfit and a really cute bag from Lelutka called Ruiz.  The detailing of the scarf is great with this Gizza  Fusion outfit.  I also have on Zaara’s wrapped necklace in onyx and men’s aviators from Motel.

The finishing touch was the hair from Vanity Hair.  This is a great easy sexy style to wear with this.  The Camo-Chic comes with a headband that you can change and as I was flipping through I found a great one with the khaki, camel, and brown combo that worked well with this jacket.  Hope you enjoy this fun autumn into winter look from Gizza.

Uptown Girl

Once again I am bringing you a fall mix and match.  I love the fall and can’t wait to get out my favorite things and have a grand time wearing them.  I really love some of the cute jackets I am seeing out on the grid in stores and have on another wonderful one today.  I have mixed it with some oldies but goodies in my inventory to get them a fresh new look.

Here I am wearing one of the wonderful new jackets from Osakki called Artica.  The jacket comes with a really cool avante garde skirt too but I was really taken with the cut of the jacket.  A modern day kimono feel – fresh and loose.  It has a bolero length and fur pattern making it a great look for fall or winter.  The sleeves are really full and you can layer like mad under them.

I am wearing a tried and true Leezu blouse – Valerie in bark matched up with some fun snake skin looking pants from Chantkate for Nova 2011.  I think this just makes a great look for heading to a fashion show or out shopping.  My shoes are also from Osakki and are in Ink.  I love the studded detailing on the toe and the sassy chain on that back of the heel – very well thought out and great detail to the shoes.  Thank God I am only wearing them in SL though and the sky high heel would really be torture.

I have added bracelets from Mandala and Zaara.  I am also using a Mandala necklace and the Saicho belt in chocolate.  This is one of my favorite hair styles from Exile – it is so cute I have almost every color.  The hair is called Amira and I really like the softness of this classic Dutch boy cut.  Starbucks is calling my name for my morning coffee so dashing out so enjoy your day.

Modavia Fashion Week Mix and Match

Wow I have been so busy in RL with a big project but wanted to take a mental break so I whipped up this really fun fall look for you all to see.  I love the different vendors at Modavia II featuring the great looks they were showing there.  For mixer matchers like me it was really great to cruise and around and see things that I knew would rock together.

Here is my first one – I am sure there are more to follow.  This top from Peqe had to come right out of my RL drawer.  I swear I have the same thing.  Had to have it!!!  It is called Modavia Baggy and comes with a cute bottom – not shown here.  I mixed these awesome pants from Shi called Chic – love love love the color! The wide legs are really great too.  The scarf I grabbed off of an outfit from Gizza called Fusion Chic [Zebra].  The finishing touch was these really great gloves from Lagyo called Zarema in cornsilk.  I am way way picky about color and these were perfecto with the pants!!! Yum.

I have a thing now about Kik hair – can’t get enough of it and this is another style from there called Nina.  I saw these adorable feathers for your hair when I was looking around from a special accessory and thought they added a great finishing touch.  The feathers you can find at Pididdle and they are feather extensions for your hair.    The pose is another great one from Di’s Opera.

Also if anyone would like me to blog any outfits or pieces that I can mix with other looks please don’t hesitate to let me know.  I enjoy putting looks together and always open to promoting someones new things.

Beautiful gown from House of Europe

Today I had the honor of wearing this lovely gown in the Miss Costa Rica contest.  There was a lovely rainbow of gowns – each in this style.  The lovely winner Laetitia Vella got to wear the color I would have died to have – green!!! She was really stunning in it as were the two runner ups in their respective colors of blue and pink.  There were lots of oohs and aaaahs over the colors – really a lovely palette.  The black is lovely too just not as vibrant as the wonderful colors others got.  I tried to present the black gown as elegantly as possible.

I wanted to keep to a simple and chic elegance.  Earlier in the competition I had on Miamai’s black fur stole but changed it up here and have changed the necklace.  I loved this hat from My Precious – the hat is called Agnes_Precious and comes in several yummy colors.  My hair is from Exile in a warm brown.  Earrings and necklace are from {*Aglaia*} and I really love how the necklace drapes.  I happened to have had this in my inventory and wonder why I never wore it before – shame.  I felt the dress called for long gloves to accent the elegance of style so I added long gloves from Blacklace.  I am wearing the Jillian bracelet from Catlyn Carter Designs.   The gown itself has gathered bows at the breast and on the hip that are accented with diamond clusters.  You really have to love the fit and flow of this great gown.  What a lovely look I am sure I will wear out for a nice evening somewhere or just dancing under the stars.
